Barkworld/MeowWorld Conference in Atlanta

First off, If you were friends with me on Facebook and all of a sudden I disappeared , the reason is because Facebook converted my friend profile page into a page. Yep, I am a dog so I am not a real person according to them but you all know I am real. I knew it would happen sooner or later so I always backed up my Facebook date monthly.  BUT! But what I didn't know is that when they turned my profile into a page that it would really mess things up. I already have a page that is used for my blog, Carma Poodale , since pages can't own pages I am having a heck of a time trying to update my Carma Poodale Allen page. To top it off they have created 3 pages for my name and I can't delete any of them. Are you confused? I am too.
You can follow my blog page for updates Carma Poodale Blog  or you can friend my Ma, Bunny on Facebook. I am still attempting to get my electronic devices changed over to my other page. It really bites that this happened 1 day before this conference. If it would been after the conference , I wouldn't pant it but GAH! Please in there with me until I can get fixed.

Now back to my post......Yesterday we drove down to Atlanta to attend the BarkWorld/MeowWorld pet blogging conference. This is my 4th Barkworld.  It starts tonight but we try to come a day early so ma can rest up a little after driving the 6 1/2 hours to get here and we meet up with our friends who arrive early too.

Absolutely Gorgeous foliage

Sissy Sarah scared of the ma's driving or her singing? You decide
We checked in to the hotel and the guy at the door remembered me. He said "Welcome back, I remember you from last years conference". Ma said she remembered him too! We are staying with Flea from Jones Chews and her boy ,Chewy. Chewy is a sweetheart and Ma is trying to figure out how to get him in the suitcase to go home with us but Flea has a close eye on us. BOL! My friends and I all went out to eat last night and had such a great time.
Thank you to Emmy for having the photo taken at the restaurant
Ma had the handcut fries and said they tasted almost as good as the ones dad makes. You can see my feet in the photo. :) There was lots of conversations and lots of laughter at this table. I consider these people my "family" and the rest of my "family" will be here today.

I was one tired pooch last night when we got back to the room. Ma got me a Westin Heavenly Pet Bed to sleep on since her and sissy Sarah are sharing a bed and that leaves little room for me. Trust me, I know why they call it a Heavenly bed, it feels like I am sleeping on a cloud.

Now that I have let you all know what has happened so far , its time to go out for my first potty break. If you are on Instagram please follow me on my adventure
I am also on Twitter.

Have a Terrific Thursday!!

Indoor Cat Loves a Cat Tree

carmapoodale.com

Molly Mew loves to sit on the tree in the back yard. She has cat trees in the house but she says none of them are as nice as this tree.We have a fenced in yard. Everyday weather permitting , she along with Cinnamon , our guinea pig are allowed time outside. It may be a hour , it may be two hours but they get fresh air and sunlight. They also get exercise.

Ma and dad thought it was important to allow her outside to learn her surroundings. They are always out with her and if they are busy doing a project , then its my job to keep them safe. Many people recommend that Molly be strictly an indoor cat. Molly Mew is a indoor cat but gets her supervised outdoor time. Over the summer Molly has learned her backyard. She has spots that she likes to lay and places to hide.

There are many reasons that we felt it was important for Molly to be outside. One reason was to get exercise. She loves to run around the yard getting from spot to spot. She also gets fresh air and sunshine. The main reason for allowing her to learn the backyard was so if someone left a door open and she got out, she would know how to come back in.

I can't tell you how many times I have seen posts from people whose indoor cat has got outside from a door being left open by either a guest, a child or not having the door closed all the way and the wind blowing it open or they got out through a open window. The cats find that the outside is scary. The smells , the sounds can be overwhelming to a cat that has never been out. Many cats get scared and run the wrong direction and find themselves lost.  This is why we chose to allow her out to experience what the outdoor had to offer. The rules are NEVER get out of the yard. So far she has never broken that rule but as I said, her outdoor time is supervised and Molly will come when her name is called. Some people don't believe this but its honestly true.

Molly Mew loves her outdoor time but yesterday a strange cat came in our yard and gave her the scare of her life. Long story short, I had to go after the cat with teeth bared! Yes, Me! I surprised ma that I bared teeth in a chase but I was angry that the cat had tried to attack Molly and that the cat thought it was okay to get in MY YARD! That was two no-no's in one visit. This is MY yard and MY kitty.

I am NOT recommending that you take your kitty outside. Unless your kitty comes when she is called or you have a secure yard etc then that is your choice. I am just saying the reasons we allow Molly Mew to go outside.

Funny thing is , Molly Mew thinks she has to come in to potty in her box. BOL! She will scream to get in the house and take a straight path to her box to potty and then ask to go back out. No one ever told her she could do her business outside. :) Maybe its for the best. This way other cats don't smell her waste in the yard. She just may be smarter than we think.

After all, she is being raised by a poodle. :-)

Happy Saturday! I hope you have a beautiful day.

Blogpaws 2015 is Going Green!

Can you imagine a conference of thousands of pet bloggers coming together in one place to learn, exchange ideas and network?

I am fortunate enough to have been a part of a conference just like this. Though I wasn't able to attend the 2014 conference , I was able to attend in 2013. There were many bloggers there. With any conference or large get together , there is always a lot of garbage left behind.

The 2015 conference will be held in Nashville Tennessee in May. May 28-30 to be exact. Next year the Blogpaws conference is doing something different, something no other conference has done. They are not only helping to connect bloggers to brands, educate us on SEO, how to post, how to stay on track and how to make money with our words but they are helping the earth.

Blogpaws 2015 Conference is going GREEN with ZERO WASTE!!

BlogPaws, Only Natural Pet, and the Pet Industry Sustainability Coalition (PISC) announce a partnership to launch a zero-waste initiative for the 2015 BlogPaws Pet Blogger and Social Media Conference. They will work together to do their part in saving our landfills and try to achieve as little waste as possible.

“Given our passion for the health and welfare of pets everywhere, BlogPaws is committed to educating our bloggers and helping them leverage their influence to encourage pet parents to adopt a ‘zero-waste’ mindset. We are excited to work with Only Natural Pet and the Pet Industry Sustainability Coalition to get the conversation started and to take the first steps towards making our yearly conference as close to ‘zero-waste’ as possible.”(Chloe DiVita, BlogPaws)

Only Natural Pet
Only Natural Pet, a Boulder-based manufacturer of all natural pet supplies, has been dedicated to sustainable waste management practices from the get-go. “We reuse shipping boxes, minimize product packaging, use renewable energy, and participate in a zero-waste program at our office, warehouse, and retail store. When PISC launched their new Accelerator Program in July, we identified ways to bring our values for sustainability to partner companies. Our sponsorship of the zero-waste portions of the BlogPaws event is an exciting opportunity to influence the mindset and behavior of hundreds of conference participants.” (Marty Grosjean, Only Natural Pet)

The Pet Industry Sustainability Coalition is a collaborative membership organization that works with pet industry leaders to improve their sustainability performance. “We are excited about our role in helping to coordinate and execute a successful zero-waste pet event. We believe that the BlogPaws 2015 conference will set an example for the entire industry, so get ready Global Pet Expo and SuperZoo!” (Caitlyn Bolton, PISC)

I look forward to Blogpaws15 next year to be apart of this zero waste movement and hope that other conferences follow suit. We all can make a difference in making our earth a better place.

See you in 2015!!

*Source of information came from Blogpaws Newsletter. I was so excited to read what was in store for the next conference that I had to share it with my followers*

WiggleButts Go Hollywoof Recap

Cocker with a cape on

On Sept 18th, Ma, Sissy Sarah and I all headed out to go to the Hollywoof fundraiser. What was Hollywoof? You can see more about the event -I'm Going to Hollywoof! It was located in Sterling, Va. We flew from Louisville to Dulles airport. We prefer to fly Delta. They have always been a no fuss airline and since I am a service dog, I can fly in the cabin with ma. Ma always says that she flies Delta for the cookies.
Delta cookies and plane
The funny thing is that she got 1 cookie on one leg of the trip but

had pretzels for the other 3 flights. When she got home she went and bought her some Biscott cookies. BOL!
We really do like Delta airlines for the fact that they have more room under the seat for me and we have never had a bad flight plus the staff is wonderful. While we were in the Louisville airport, I got to sit with my favorite guy...Colonel Sanders! Creator of Kentucky Fried Chicken aka KFC. Its my most favoritest chickyum in the whole wide world. I will say that I was hoping he would smell like chickyum or at least have a piece in his pocket. He didn't.

On the flight to Dulles
We landed and caught up with Jan Todd who was on the same flight as us and called the hotel who sent a shuttle to pick us up. We stayed at the Hyatt House  located at 45520 Dulles Plaza in Sterling Va. It is less than 2 minutes from the airport. They offer free internet, a nice breakfast bar each morning and a shuttle service which is a huge help. Over the next couple of days,we used that service a lot. It is a beautiful hotel. Its moderately priced and is located not far from the mall and other activities. The hotel has a outdoor pool and hot tub, outdoor fireplace (only can be in use when engineer is there) and plenty of areas for pets to potty and get exercise. The rooms are super nice. They have suites that have a kitchenette with a full size refrigerator , 2 burner stove, dishwasher and a full size coffee pot. You can see photos here
After getting settled, we decided to go out to dinner. We went to Longhorn Steakhouse with Jan. Afterwards we went back to the hotel and waited for others to arrive. We checked out all the places in the hotel and Ma went on the search for RC cola. When we got back from dinner, sissy Sarah crashed and so did I.

More guest started showing up the next day. People I had been wanting to see so bad!

carmapoodale.com

Before the gala we went to Coco the Couture cat's room to view her new book! She is the most fashionable cat that I know. Her mom gives good back scratches , but that is just between us! shh , don't tell the other dogs.
carmapoodale.com

For 2 DAYS! Ma went without RC but a man in the lobby that worked for the hotel heard the desperation in ma's voice for RC and he went to the store for her. She was one happy lady when she got that 12 pack in her hands!!! Everything was right with the world after that. Sissy Sarah and I danced around the room while ma chugged that first warm RC. The rest were in the fridge getting cold.

It was time to get ready for the event. It was time for WIGGLEBUTTS GO HOLLYWOOD! We all got ready and after I got my hair brushed it was time to go. We road to the event with Amyjo, the ferret mama. We arrived and was watching all the people dressed to the nines entering too. We walked in and was WOWED! The Pet resort was beautifully decorated, it looked like Hollywood!

We waited in line to have our photos taken and to get into the event. The pup-arotzzi was in full force. I felt like a superstar! I was surrounded by other superstars! I was with framily.

Trying to remember to smile and trying not pass nervous gas

Thinking maybe I should have went potty before coming in.

Wondering what was taking so long
Ma said the line went quickly but you know I count in dog numbers. 1 minute is 7 minutes, 2 minutes are 14 minutes, etc..once we got in,everything was perfect. We found our table. The food was delicious according to ma. It must have tasted good because the rest of the guest at our table were talking how yummy everything was. When everyone at the table says the food was yummy , you know it had to be good.
There was dancing, awards were given out, a marriage proposal, then the big donation check.

WigglebuttsGoHollywoof raised almost $30,000!!!! WOW! That is an AMAZING amount! That money will help so many cocker spaniel and cocker spaniel mixes now and in the future.

Here are some photos from the event:

Mission Accomplished!

The next day we went to the Barrel Oaks Winery. It had the most beautiful landscape and there were lots of people there. The weather was up in the 80's and it was a gorgeous day. Its a dog and child friendly winery.

We thought it was a great time to spend with our ferret friends from Enlightened Ferret Fashions. Their mom was nice enough to take us to the gala the night before and to the winery. Marilyn had a blast hiding in Sarah's shirt. They all seemed to enjoy exploring along the rock. It was fun to watch them play and explore.

We rode back to the hotel with Garth and his pawents. We didn't know they were heading home but took time to take us back. We owe them big time!

That evening we went out with Emmy. We had dinner at PF Changs. Well they had dinner, I laid under the table and napped. Got to catch those naps when you can!
That night we hung out in the hotel with many people. Ma didn't have her camera with her so we don't have any photos from then.
The next day, I thought we would get to sleep late, take in some sights, visit with more friends and have a huge play day but ma said those words  I really wasn't ready to hear....HOME
I pleaded , I begged, I threw a poodle tantrum but she put my vest on me anyways.

While she checked the room one last time , I spread some more of my poodale stank on the bed.

NO! I am still sleeping, SEE!

Oh bed, how I will miss you. I hope you miss me!

The End

B/W Sunday-Sissy and I at Wigglebutts

Stop by tomorrow and read my roundup of WiggleButts Go Hollywoof event.
Lots of photos and fun.
Happy Sunday!
Don't forget to smile.

Molly Mew True Ky Wildcat

Basketball season is about to begin. In this house its a huge thing. Many of my friends and fellow bloggers are football or baseball fans, some are basketball fans and some don't give a hoot about sports.
We go all out. We don't miss a University of Kentucky game on TV and we call it the "season of yelling"
The pawents (especially Ma) starts yelling at those refs or players loudly. Molly Mew didn't know what to make out of all that yelling and cheering her first season. BOL!
Now she is old enough to start wearing the UK Wildcat clothing. Ma has found some of Zen's old clothes that fit her.
She doesn't know what to think about them. She sits there and allows ma to put them on her but then she keeps falling over.
Its something new that she is getting used to but her expressions leaves us laughing!

carmapoodale.com
Ma puts the coat on her for a 15-30 minutes at a time. She is slowly getting used to it. Pretty soon she will be ready for her cheerleading outfit!!
Go Cats Go!!!
Does your pets wear your favorite teams colors??

Happy Saturday!

Don't forget to enter my giveaway for the "Lola Goes to the Vet" book!

Book Review and Giveaway- Lola Goes to the Doctor

I am not one that reads a lot of books but when I was contacted and asked to review this book, I had to say yes. One of my jobs is to educate children about pets but sometimes I have to educate pets about things too... mainly Scooby.

chihuahua looking in to camera

Scooby's vaccines are due soon so when I seen what this book was about I was excited. I could ease his fears with the help of Lola.

Lola is a 5 pound Yorkie that is a certified Therapy dog who visits classrooms and people to help make them feel better.

Childrens book

Lola Goes to the Doctor written by Marcia Goldman is about the time that Lola had to go to the vet for a checkup. She is nervous , like Scooby but when she gets there she finds that she can't remember why she was nervous to begin with after all in her mind , she is a big dog. She meets friends and likes the nurse and even the doctor. She keeps telling herself that she is a big girl and she can do this.

Carma and Scooby
Dr. Poodale and her Patient, Scooby Doo
Lola talks about how the doctor gives her the exam. How he checks her weight, takes her temperature and looks in her ears.

Carmapoodale.com
Sometimes doctors have to sit down and explain what they want to do (or wait for a treat)

It's important to try to be still when the doctor looks in your ears or listens to your heart. Lola keeps reminding herself that she is a big girl.

Carmapoodale.com
How can I play doctor if you won't let me use my doctor tools??
Lola keeps reminding herself that she is a big girl and she knows she can make it through her appointment.
So how did Lola do and what did she have done at her vet?? You have to read the book to find out!!

This book is a great book for children, grandchild or any child to help them learn what goes on at a pet appointment but they can also use it to identify what happens when they go to the doctor. The ages that are recommended are from 3-8. Its an easy read and is 32 pages. There are lots of photos and it helps with focus words.

Focus words like Nervous,Patient, Brave and Afraid. It lists questions that could be asked to the child such as "What makes you nervous or brave?" and has suggestions for activities to do while reading the book.

At first I thought I would donate the book to a child's doctors office but I thought maybe you would like to have the book for the child in your life or you would like to donate it to an organization.

I am hosting a giveaway to give away the book I received.
This is a great little book to read to children or help children to learn to read.

*I was sent this book from JKSCommunications. I was not asked to give a good review nor did I receive money for the review.
I enjoyed the book and the message it spreads and I , CarmaPoodale , wanted to share it with you , my readers.
