Good Bye Little Buddy

If you are friends with me on Facebook, you know that when Ma and I pet sit we refer to it as "cabin by the lake". There I have lots of friends but there is one who I called my little buddy. Jelly Bean was a deaf beagle who even though she was a elderly girl, she had spunk.
Whenever ma and I came over ,she would do what ma called the Jelly Bean dance. She would dance all around because she was happy to see us. No matter where ma was in the house, there was Jelly Bean. Always watching, always ready to get a good head scratching. Jelly Bean and I would hang out all day together watching ma.Charming her out of treats.  When it was treat time I would always make sure Jelly Bean got the treat first. If she ate her treat too fast then I would drop my treat so she could have more. Once ma even caught me taking my foot and pushing the treat towards Jelly Bean.
Last night we went to the drive in and ma got a text saying Jelly Bean had passed away. Her mom was too distraught to talk about it but wanted ma to know. Ma busted out in tears when she read that text. We don't know what happened but imagine it was because of her age. She was around 18-19 yrs old. Yes, she was that old.
We will be at the cabin by the lake next week and it isn't going to be the same not seeing Jelly Bean meeting us at the door and doing the Jelly Bean dance of happiness.
I will miss her terribly. I know her siblings miss her too.
Rest in Peace , Jelly Bean.
You sure was a great little buddy
and you brought so many smiles to our faces.

I Loved You Best

So this is where we part, My Friend,
And you'll run on, around the bend.
Gone from sight, but not from mind,
new pleasures there you'll surely find.

I will go on; I'll find the strength,
Life measures quality, not its length.
One long embrace before you leave,
Share one last look, before I grieve.

There are others, that much is true,
But they be they, and they aren't you.
And I, fair, impartial, or so I thought,
Will remember well all you've taught.

Your place I'll hold, you will be missed,
The fur I stroked, the nose I kissed.
And as you journey to your final rest,
Take with you this...I loved you best.
