Book Review and Giveaway- Lola Goes to the Doctor

I am not one that reads a lot of books but when I was contacted and asked to review this book, I had to say yes. One of my jobs is to educate children about pets but sometimes I have to educate pets about things too... mainly Scooby.

Scooby's vaccines are due soon so when I seen what this book was about I was excited. I could ease his fears with the help of Lola.

Lola is a 5 pound Yorkie that is a certified Therapy dog who visits classrooms and people to help make them feel better.

Lola Goes to the Doctor written by Marcia Goldman is about the time that Lola had to go to the vet for a checkup. She is nervous , like Scooby but when she gets there she finds that she can't remember why she was nervous to begin with after all in her mind , she is a big dog. She meets friends and likes the nurse and even the doctor. She keeps telling herself that she is a big girl and she can do this.

Lola talks about how the doctor gives her the exam. How he checks her weight, takes her temperature and looks in her ears.

Sometimes doctors have to sit down and explain what they want to do (or wait for a treat)

It's important to try to be still when the doctor looks in your ears or listens to your heart. Lola keeps reminding herself that she is a big girl.

How can I play doctor if you won't let me use my doctor tools??
Lola keeps reminding herself that she is a big girl and she knows she can make it through her appointment.
So how did Lola do and what did she have done at her vet?? You have to read the book to find out!!

This book is a great book for children, grandchild or any child to help them learn what goes on at a pet appointment but they can also use it to identify what happens when they go to the doctor. The ages that are recommended are from 3-8. Its an easy read and is 32 pages. There are lots of photos and it helps with focus words.

Focus words like Nervous,Patient, Brave and Afraid. It lists questions that could be asked to the child such as "What makes you nervous or brave?" and has suggestions for activities to do while reading the book.

At first I thought I would donate the book to a child's doctors office but I thought maybe you would like to have the book for the child in your life or you would like to donate it to an organization.

I am hosting a giveaway to give away the book I received.
This is a great little book to read to children or help children to learn to read.

*I was sent this book from JKSCommunications. I was not asked to give a good review nor did I receive money for the review.
I enjoyed the book and the message it spreads and I , CarmaPoodale , wanted to share it with you , my readers.
