Hey, I know her!
Meet my friend Jasmine

Oh geez, Scooby is in love!

Meet Jasmine. She is the cover girl for the TopPaw Seat Covers. Find out more about  Jasmine

Reggie

Reggie has something to say.

Meet my fur friend Reggie. Reggie is a 5 yr old male who has been with us for around a year and a half. Reggie was adopted before but his owner fell on some hard times and had to bring him back to us.
Reggie would love to have a family of his own. He is house broke, loves to cuddle but also loves to play. He gets along great with other dogs and loves kids who are school age. Toddlers sorta scare him but so does Santa hats. He just wants to hide behind you when he sees one of each. But don't let that fool you, he would protect you in a heart beat.
Reggie lives at the Owensboro Humane Society . If you would like any info about him please don't hesitate to ask.

He is up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative , Neutered and is ready to go home with you.
We are located at 3101 W. 2nd st. in Owensboro, Ky
You can write Bunny@OwensboroHumane.org or call the Humane Society at 270-302-6813 or call ma at 270-316-4176.
You don't have to live in Owensboro to adopt Reggie. We will work something out and may even deliver if we feel you are the right home for him. If you do live close please come to visit him. He knows basic commands like shake, down, stay, and sit. He will proudly show off his skills that he knows.

Ma Said "Don't You Put Your Feet On The Couch!"

I need a nap

I Am A Service Dog

My ma has MS and she has down days". These are days that ma can't really do anything but lay around. Her pain level goes really high and she can't do a lot of things.  Being that I am her medical alert/service dog, I stay with her continuously. I know when a pawrent doesn't feel well a faithful companion will stay by their side and lay with them the whole time. I go beyond that. I know before my ma does that she is going to be having her down days. I get very pushy with her. Some say I become a "bully". I insist that Ma lays down. I push her with my head or I will stand up on her and gently push her to the bedroom or to the nearest chair. When she is in her bed and she tries to get up I will lay across her legs. I know that she can't walk well by herself. When she needs to go to the bathroom , I go with her. She holds on to me while I lead her to the bathroom and then I have to brace my legs so that she can use me to push herself up and she will hold on to me while I lead her back to her bed. It's not a easy job but it is one that I have learned to do. I know the words  "Brace", "Pull" "get help" to name a few.

B/W Free Flying

Scooby Doo asked so ma let him.
She turned on to a road
where she could drive really slow
so he could do this......

Feeling the wind on my face

Those few minutes made him happy.
Happy Sunday

Ice Maker Needed!

On April 7th my sissy Sarah turned 16. Every year sissy Sarah gets to pick what she wants to do for her birthday. Previous years she has either picked a small party of a few close friends or a mini vacation. Last year Ma took us girls to Nashville for a "girls getaway". This year sissy wanted to do something special since this was her sweet 16 party.

Ma kept asking her what she wanted but sissy Sarah said she had a plan and would let her know when it was finalize. Ma pictured the bank machine shooting out money because when sissy says that it usually hits the pocketbook.

Then one night on Facebook, ma got a invitation to a "sweet 16" pawty from sissy. When she clicked on the link to see what she was paying for , she was a little stunned. Sissy had planned a fundraiser pawty for all my fur friends at the Owensboro Humane Society. She had planned music, entertainment and had a huge guest list. The request was that every gift brought had to be something for the animals and the biggest request was money. Ma made a event photo to share so everyone that was invited could share with their friends. The public was invited.
Dozer begged for people to come
With summer coming on my fur friends don't have air conditioning. In the mornings and early afternoons, they are put on tie outs while their kennels are being cleaned. They each have their own little pool to play and keep cool.
They love their pools but pools can't be put in the kennels.

Last year our ice maker constantly needed repair. Then this year we heard clunk, clunk , scooch, plunk and it was dead. The repairman came out , did some test and said it was not repairable. We have hobbled along for 2 yrs and  now we need a new one. The problem is the size we need cost about $2500! That is a lot of milk bone money for a Humane Society that runs on donations from the public only.

Sissy Sarah's pawty raised $795.00 in cash and got donations of food, treats, office supplies and beds. But we need more money to buy the ice maker. With summers coming we need to get this ordered and fast. The days of 100 degree weather will be here soon. We use the ice in the water buckets to keep the water cool. If we don't add it , the water temperatures raise in the 80's and that isn't very refreshing.

Gunner says Please Donate

"HOME" for my fur friends
If you would like to help, please click the donate button. Every bit helps! Please put IceMaker in the memo of the donation so we know that is what the funds go to or you can leave me a message and I will make sure it goes to the ice maker.

I want to help my fur friends to stay cool. They don't have the pleasure of feeling the cold air that comes up from the floor like I do. Please help to make this summer a more pleasant one for my friends. I know they will appreciate it and so will I.

When you click the donate button, it will take you to Paypal. All funds that are donated through this button goes straight to the Owensboro Humane Society. It does NOT come to me. You will get a receipt from the Owensboro Humane Society.

Why Come To BlogPaws?

I am doing something new this year. I am attending BlogPaws. What is BlogPaws you ask? Its a social media conference that is geared toward pet bloggers, micro bloggers, businesses and more!  This is my first year for BlogPaws. I am hoping they put a spark in me to write better, more accurate, and to be better at communicating to my followers.

Why should I blog or want to go to this. I do it to educate myself about how to be a better writer. I do it for  my fur friends who live at the Owensboro Humane Society. I want to learn how to grab my audience attention to bring awareness to our no kill facility and to bring attention to my friends who are praying for a home of their own. I will meet others who are in shelter/rescue, who write for shelters, who live, breathe animals. There will be cat, dog, small animals of all types there. In order to be a better writer I need to know the rules of the web, rules of giveaways, copy writes etc. It's more than just writing something on line.

If you have a blog , website or have a page on Facebook, work in a vet's office, volunteer or paid shelter/rescue worker, or have a pet business then this is the conference for you!

I can't wait to meet so many people and so many friends again. I want to hear David Frei (voice of Westminister) say my name :) Learn how to overcome writers block, among so much more.

See all the sessions that are offered, view the speakers, see who is going to be there and JOIN ME!

Ky Derby means Hats!

Kentucky is wild about the Ky Derby which happens on May 4 2013 in Louisville, Ky.  Ladies typically wear pastel-colored suits or dresses. Hats are the major fashion trend at the Derby! I have my hat but I will be watching it on the big TV.

The Sun shines bright on my Old Ky Home

I know you are digging my hat!

Hats usually  have feathers  and layers

This is the look I have watching the derby. It's intense.
The Ky derby is known as "The Greatest 2 minutes in sports"

Do you watch the Ky Derby??
