We Are In Atlanta For BarkWorld ! Part 2

Westin-Buckhead in Atlanta Ga.
We are here at the Westin-Buckhead hotel and it is so beautiful. We put our suitcases down, freshen up and then its time to go mingle

The elevators were mirrored so you could see yourself

. Up the moving room we go only to find out we were on the wrong floor so we used the moving steps. Those are really cool.

I made it to BARKWORLD!
When we got to the top of the stairs, first pawson I seen was Piggy from Sleeps with Dogs. . She was wagging her tail and I don't think it stopped during the conference. Such a  happy soul. Yes she is a pit bull but she is the most friendly, happy girl you have ever met. Plus she knows how to rock a Tutu.

Miss Piggy
Then we went and checked out all the vendors. I met a lot of people, seen a lot of brands and tasted a lot of treats.

Ma made a phone call and then a smile came across her face. She called a friend that offered to get her what she needed because she couldn't get it on the plane.

You don't know how much my ma stressed about not having these RC with her. She gets real grouchy when she doesn't have them.
Alicia and Stitch the Pom brought ma her RC
After a few sessions it was time for the Halloween pawty but first we all went for a potty break. This is where we met up with our friends, made new ones and just hung out together.

This is De. I love her.

Then we met Linus in pawson. My sissy just had to give him a kiss
Sissy Sarah also held me

Then it was time for lunch. The spread was beautiful. They had all sorts of meats and veggie wraps.

Don't those look delicious!
Then it was time for the Halloween pawty. We went upstairs and got ready for the fun. We got to walk a red carpet! My fur friends and their pawrents looked marvelous! Oh this was so much fun.

These two are having too much fun.

The pirates didn't walk the plank but they did walk the red carpet
CJ and Jasmine

Everyone was dressed up.

We won 2nd place but the 1st place winner really deserved it. It was Cruella Deville! My photo didn't turn out good enough to share. Sorry but she looked marvelous!

So this was day 1 of BarkWorld. There is so much more to tell but I will have to make it in different parts so I can tell all the great stuff that happened. I just know at the end of the night that some of us didn't make it to our beds before we fell asleep:
Pepper Sleeping
Then once my head hit that pillow, I was gone to la la land myself

Yes that is a smile. I have had a great day.

Journey to BarkWorld Part1

Do you see him? Did you find Zen???
Just before we left for the airport we got a call about Zen. He was spotted behind the elementary school up the road from the Humane Society. After we threw our bags in the car we went and searched for him but we didn't find him. We called a few people who jumped in their cars and met us up there to take over the search.
Then off to the airport we went. We stopped and got breakfast but I didn't want to eat. Ma put my bacon in her purse because she thought maybe that I would eat it later. When we got to the parking lot of the airport ma found the perfect parking spot and after she parked the car she realized that she should have dropped us off with the luggage at the door and went and parked the car. When we got out of the car there was a bus behind us that said shuttle. The man got out and asked if we needed a ride. I swear I heard harp music playing and boy did my ma smile real big. We got the stuff in the shuttle and the man took us to the door then he took our luggage in for us. Wow that harp music was loud. This took a load off my ma's mind.

We checked in for our flight, went through security and waited for our plane to get there. I give 4 paws up for Evansville Ind. airport. They made it so easy for us. We have heard stories about how terrible it was to fly no days but our experience was great. Hope its just as great going back.

Just laying around waiting for the plane

Here is our plane.
At the ticket counter

When we loaded on the plane ma got a little worried about how I would take the ride. I have never been on a plane before. I did great. People thought I had been flying my whole life. I comfortably fit under the seat and with a little help from ma's jacket as a pillow I slept all the way.
Snoozing on the plane
Moving sidewalks are neat.
cool these stairs move by themselves!

After we arrived in Atlanta we located our bags and we got on the BarkWorld bus. It was a limo shuttle that picked us up. Boy was it fancy. I have never been on a bus so nice. What a wonderful experience. We played games and we won a prize. It was a collapsible dog bowl that folds up when not in use. Good thing we won that because ma forgot to pack me bowls.

Then we arrived at the hotel and it is beautiful. It is so big and it even has stairs that move up and down for you. I have never been on anything like that but people thought I had been on them all my life. I like them. You step up and it does all the work for you. They also have those moving rooms that go up and down. Push a button and you go up to your floor, push it again and you are on the floor of your choice. Those are fun to ride

Now it's off to the sessions and to say hi to my friends! Stay tuned for part 2 !

2 More days Till BarkWorld !

Its Tuesday the 23rd and we are almost ready for BarkWorld. We leave out Thursday morning. We have one more day to get everything together and ready to hit the road.
First things first. My nails have been painted. Ma found my Silver fast dry nail pen. Silver goes with everything so they should look good with any outfit.

The luggage is packed and our travel outfits are laid out. Trust me this wasn't a easy task!

Next was getting our cards ready. Ma got hers today and
she made Sissy Sarah's

Now its time to pull out the big guns.... the Sewing Machine!
We have to finish doing the touch ups and tailoring on my dresses.

Tomorrow we will double check everything and make sure we got what we need packed and then we rest.

I want to thank Eukanuba for sponsoring the "EukanubaPawsInMotion" contest to BarkWorld. I have to say, this is the most amazing thing I have ever won in my life. I hope I don't drive them nuts by saying "Thank You" hundreds of times during BarkWorld.  I also hope that Bev is there because I took a shine to her last year and she is the one that gave me the pretty scarf that I am wearing in the photo.

3 Days Till BarkWorld 2012

It's Monday the 22nd of Oct. and the clock is a ticking to the countdown to BarkWorld. I have had my hair cut and done my shopping for me but ma and sissy Sarah have a few more things to get before we leave.
Hair cut  -Check
I think I had hair in my eye
Today I went to my doctor and got my health certificate and my shot record, just in case I needed it. The ride to Central City was so nice. It is such a  beautiful day
Its a great day for a ride
When I got home ma brushed me out and curled my hair. It helped to take care of the wild hair that I can't do anything with. Ma says I have a cow lick but I honestly don't remember getting licked by a cow.
Will this take care of the cow lick??
Now for the hard decisions.  What color do I paint my nails??? I have more polish than this but these are the ones I like. Last year my nails were red so I don't want to wear red again.

What color of nail polish??

Now tonight we will go over everything and make sure out papers are in ma's purse. I am so excited to go.. I can't wait. The sessions seem to be bigger, longer and so interesting. I have to give high paw to all the organizers who have spent all year getting BarkWorldExpo put together and a double high paw to Denise Quashie, she is the founder of BarkWorld. You can read more about her and BarkWorld here.> What is BarkWorld??

This year they are adding MeowWorld. I can't wait to find out more about this!!

Hope you all have a great day. Bark at you more tomorrow!

BarkWorld Countdown

BarkWorld Expo

Its Sunday so that means that we have 3 days till BarkWorld!! With my little brudder,Zen  missing we have not had do our shopping or I really haven't had time to do my blogging about the countdown. When you are searching for something 10-12 hours a day not to mention following all the post about him, it leaves you exhausted. Then the Owensboro Humane Society , I am the spokesdog, had 3 straight days of spay/neuter clinics which I worked as a door greeter. Happy to say that 101 pets got spayed or neutered within those 3 days!!

But now I am in Barkworld mode while I am still searching for my brudder. It's been rough getting to this point. The company that I won the trip from has been great but the one making the reservations, well that is a different story. First off I think she was paying for me to fly by the way she acted. She kept reminding me how lucky I was that my airfare was paid for since the other contest prizes didn't include pet airfare. They were supposed to send a check for baggage fee and my airfare but I was told by my vet that I should fly for free. I am a medical alert Service Dog. I called the airline and they confirmed it. So I contacted the person in charge of reservations and told her I flew for free but asked if I could get a little help with my human sissy's airfare since her ticket was lower priced than what mine was. I got a no. Sissy is lucky I don't make her fly in the crate with a dog suit on like that commercial I see on the TV. BOL! That's ok because  her a ticket was still purchased so she will be coming. Good thing I do fly for free because we just found out that the check for the luggage fees isn't getting to us in time but it should be in the mail box when I get home. So I know the check  for my airfare wouldn't be here in time.

Then when we asked about getting a free limo ride we were told it wasn't in the prize package and we would have to find our own transfer to the hotel. I thought it was included in the package but I still called the airport and made sure I would have a ride. I looked at the prize package and it was in there so I sent it to the one that made the reservations and she said she would make sure I had a ride. Then when I talked to Denise, the founder of BarkWorld, she made sure I got the limo ride. Why pay a cab fee if the limo ride is Free? Didn't make sense to me. But that is taken care of. I won't be putting my paw out trying to hitch a ride with a scary truck driver. :-)

Now we have everything taken care of and now we can shop for what we need. Boy I just can't wait to go. I will get to see all my friends, the sessions sound exciting and I know I am going to learn so much. Looking forward to the Pet CPR and Doga, not to mention speed dating, tweet how to's and more. I sure hope my brain can keep it all straight and my ma can keep up with me. For those that haven't been to Barkworld you will find that what you learn in the sessions will help you so much on your blogs, writings or businesses. When you learn how to write properly more will follow you.

Me? I know I write to much and too long. I know this is a problem and I hope I can learn how to make it short and sweet but still getting my message across. Some say I write novels. Sorry I have a lot to bark about.
But when I do bark about something I only speak what I feel. When I do a blog about a cause or a product recommendation I only write what I really think.Sometimes this actually goes against me but if you want me to talk about how I feel about something I am not going to fib. I don't want to hear " well you said this was this or that and if I knew it was like this I wouldn't have bought it" kinda stuff.

I am off to do our shopping. I have all my stuff but ma and sissy need some things. Oh by the way, all the clothes you see me wearing at BarkWorld has been purchased from Letsbepets.com. I honestly do LOVE their company. The quality of the clothing is better than anything I can buy locally.

What is Wrong With Humans!

I just don't understand humans sometimes. I try but I just can't. Since Zen has been missing we have been frantically searching for him just giving ourselves time to rest and eat and we are back out again. Then I open my Facebook or my email and there are 30 post or more of pets who have been surrender to KILL shelters.

It doesn't matter how much you talk about how over crowded shelters are or how pets are going to be euthanized on this day or that day. Some humans have no heart. There are dogs and cats that have been with the family for 10-13 yrs and one day the person gets up and says " I am tired of you" and off they go to a shelter. Some people are dumb enough to say "oh its a great dog, it will find a home" yeah buddy it will, in HEAVEN! There are thousands of great dogs and cats in shelters that can't find a home, no fault of their own, but humans keep bringing more and more in.

Sure your dog or cat had babies and you don't want to take the time to find homes for them. You should have thought about that before you let your girl get pregnant or let your boy out for a night on the town!! There are low cost to no cost pay and neuter clinics available. You just have to call around. Is that so hard???

Then you look in the paper and see all the Pets For Sale ads. Yeah the world needs more pure blooded pits, more boxers, and more labs. Yep it sure does and that $400-$1000 price is going to make sure they go to a good home. I bet I can find you a whole basket of Pure Breed pits, boxers or lab puppies in no time and their cost will be a whole lot less and they will get their shots and spayed or neutered so that the person who adopts them won't be breeding them again.

I am not against breeders of all types, don't get me wrong. I am against backyard breeders who don't do the proper testing, don't give the parents the vaccines, and think all there is to breeding is two dogs or cats getting it on. Just because everyone loves your dog and thinks he or she is special doesn't mean they should be breeding!

How are we going to get through to people that you don't dump a animal because you get tired of them, can't make time for them, or because you are having a baby?

Do they not understand the 1,000's of volunteers that are putting in their heart, time, blood, sweat and tears to find that great dog or cat a home? Just when you rejoice about a adoption to a loving home you turn around and there are 10 people in line ready to hand you another animal because you have room now.

With all this election stuff going on and all the promises being made why can't not one candidate just mention spay/neuter.We will never be a no kill nation, we will always have shelters choking with animals and piles of animals being thrown away due to euthanization  if us animal lovers don't speak up. Education helps. Maybe people need parenting tips for pets like they do for human babies. But then again there are some people out there that don't need their kids neither.

But I know one thing, Jenny Sue and I may have been adopted  from a shelter and Zen was on his way to the shelter when he was adopted and we are in our fur ever home. My pawrents look at us as kids and they wouldn't give my human sissy Sarah up so they won't give us up neither. I know times can change and things can happen. I pray to the big dog in the sky to keep us safe every night.

Now I am off to search for my little brudder.................

What Has Been Done in our Search For Zen

First all I want to thank everyone who has shared or retweeted the information on Zen. I know that getting the information out there to others that are not followers of mine is very helpful. We have NOT found Zen yet but I have had a lot of questions about what have we done so far to find him. I thought I would take this time to tell you and hopefully if someone has lost one of their fur kids maybe something I have done will help them find their fur kid.

One of my pawsome friends made this flyer and I have added it to the flyers I have shared so that I am not sharing the same information every day. I know even looking through my own Facebook post if someone shares the same photo or information over and over sometimes I pass it up so if we mix it up a little maybe someone will continue to pay attention.

We have put it on the local TV station. Ma does a show called "Around Owensboro" once a month where she takes a Humane Society pet on air and talks about the pet along with what events are coming up but this month they spoke about the importance of collars and micro chips. Even with a micro chip a vet isn't going to have a reason to run a scanner over a pet if someone brings a new pet in for a exam.

We have put ads in our local media. Its in our newspaper, craigslist, and there are flyers on every stop sign in the neighborhood he was last seen in. We have also put flyers on the community mailboxes, newspaper stands, and bus stops. Yesterday we took more flyers and put them in the surrounding neighborhoods on the stop signs and gave a couple flyers to the mail men that deliver in that area. The flyers have also been posted at all the pet shops, vet offices and the shelters have been alerted. Ma calls them everyday to see if anyone has turned him in. She also calls the vet offices to see if he has been brought in with injuries.

We drive the area multiple times a day and have many friends that are doing the same. They report to ma after they do the search. We have contacted a few of the lost pets networks but we are either getting email responses that they don't serve our area or that it is on there but there might be 100 post after ours and no way to bump it to the top. When we are out looking for him either driving or by foot we have squeaky toys, we yell his name and we ask anyone that is either walking or sitting outside if they have seen him. We give them flyers to keep just in case they do see him.

It is shared on Facebook and Twitter. We have posted on any site that deals with pets and local for sale sites. We check them numerous times a day. There are also others that are checking them for us especially when we are out searching for Zen.

The president of our humane society made us 350 flyers to give out. She made 2 flyers on one page so they are not full page but big enough to see them from the area that someone is in. We also have left them at all the restaurants with drive-thrus and all the daycares in the area. Zen loves to ride so we thought if someone used a drive thru one of the workers would see him and call us. They have also been put in all the gas stations.

We also have 8 X 10 flyers in our back car windows. We figure no matter where we were someone walking past the car just might look and see what is on the back window and since we have a photo of him from front , side and from the top view on it we had all angles showed.

Ma takes lots of photos of us and she does it often if not daily. We see so many people sharing photos of lost pets that are either blurry, dark, lots of stuff in the photo etc and we are hoping a clear photo with little clutter helps to get Zen back.
Please if your fur kid doesn't have their collar on right now, get up and put it on! You never know how less than 10 minutes can change your life.

Please keep sharing Zens "Lost Dog" photo that we have posted on Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter and Google+ in hopes that someone sees it.
The Reward for Zen is up to $250. We had originally had a $100 but a few friends have pledged money to help. We will continue to hang flyers, find new ways to post, drive and walk through neighborhoods and pray that my brudder is safe.
I hope these photos make you smile because I sure know they make me smile. I miss my little brudder and I won't stop looking until he is home with us.
I love you Zen! I will find you!!!
The big dog in the sky (God) knows we were not through loving you.
